Activities: harassing interns, tracking down hits for his job, buying expensive scotch, pretending he's really a good guy, waiting for his mother to die, perfecting the Imperius Curse, recruiting for the Renegades, weight training, and picking fights in seedy pubs. Likes: hard liquor, hard hits, quidditch, inflicting pain, mind control, torture, women, thunderstorms, cigars, Slytherins, purebloods, money, and power. Dislikes: Spiders, blood traitors, muggles, mixbloods, and effeminate men. Desires: Muggle slaves, a wife, an eventual heir. Love Life: Played the field, so to speak, while at Hogwarts. No serious relationships. He really likes women and in the future would definitely like to settle down with one. Personality: Adrian is very outgoing and at the surface appears to enjoy conversing with nearly anyone. He excels at gaining the trust of others, teasing even the tightest secrets to the surface of acquaintances, discovering the strengths and weaknesses of strangers and then immediately using the information to his advantage. But his language is harsh and direct, and first impressions find him honest and forthcoming yet incredibly insensitive. His brand of humor is both self-deprecating and highly critical. He lives for a good jab at another's expense but whenever someone attempts a jab at him, Adrian tends to respond physically and without thought. Because of his proclivity for violence, he avoids more sophisticated joints when drinking alone. Otherwise, he is overly confident in his skills and so is neither modest nor humble. His superiors regard him as something of a wild card but he maintains job security by simply never failing. Egotistical? Very. Adrian hates rather than tolerates and is never one to shy away from a fight. His sarcasm and generally unpleasant attitude hold his peers at a distance and even those he considers friends rarely see a genial, caring man. He is singularly incapable of sympathy or empathy, and does not stand for complaining, whining or slacking in the line of duty. He is not particularly loyal, yet tends to shy away from the limelight, preferring a secondary role and following the orders of those he respects. At his best, in leadership positions, Adrian is able to maintain morale at an outstanding level. He is obsessed with the Renegades and is willing to die in order to advance its cause…just not quite yet. He is terrified of failure, poverty and dilution of his bloodline. Background and personal history: Adrian was not born into a particularly bad family. His father was a hard working Healer as his father had been before him. Adrian’s mother was a socialite and therefore held the real power. Her blood, through the generations, was cleaner, purer, more acceptable. During the Dark Lord’s first reign of terror, Adrian’s mother, try as she might, was unable to convince her husband to support Voldemort outright. Soon enough, however, he was treating Death Eater medical emergencies in the lowest level of their manor, simply to appease his wife. Adrian was too young to remember anything distinctly but as they were during his earliest formative years, and from as early as he could remember, he recalled his mother bitterly denouncing the Ministry, Harry Potter, and muggles and mudbloods alike. Whenever his mother would entertain socialite wives, Adrian’s tutor would whisk him to the far wing of the house for studies or around the back of the manor to practice flying. For Adrian, his 11th birthday could not arrive soon enough. To his horror, he was not sorted promptly into Slytherin, rather the sorting hat deliberated on his placement into Gryffindor. This has remained his greatest secret and although he loathes to admit it, his placement in Slytherin was no doubt affected by will alone. Although all Slytherins are capable of a viciousness not found in other houses, Adrian felt he had to act particularly harsh to prove (only to himself) that Slytherin was indeed his proper house. Yet his aggression and occasional violence was only to mixed bloods or muggleborns, and he freely associated with the pureblood members of all houses. He maintained average marks and when he made the house quidditch team his third year, his focus turned almost exclusively to flying. His popularity grew exponentially and his life revolved comfortably around quidditch until the end of his sixth year when his mother and his housemates lost interest in anything but the very real reappearance of Voldemort. It was no longer enough to dream of professional quidditch; lines were being drawn. The real power lay not in house sports, but the dark arts and their suddenly very practical application. As he’d spent the first 17 years of his life on or around brooms, he had long intended to go pro. After Voldemort’s return, however, the Slytherin chaser faced considerable house pressure to reconsider his future. During Adrian’s sixth year his father suddenly and unexpectedly passed away, leaving the family fortune to his scheming widow. There was no doubt in Adrian’s mind that his father had protested involving Adrian in the Dark Lord’s recruiting and that his mother had dealt with the problem with a clean break. But Adrian had never been particularly close with either parent and so remained curiously detached from the entire situation. Although indeed influenced heavily by his mother, his eventual commitment to the dark arts came more through house pressure and loyalty, than family. Yet his mother sank time and funds into making the proper connections and after Adrian’s graduation, he transitioned smoothly into Hit Wizard training, biding his time and procuring the interest of one Antonin Dolohov, to whom he was promptly “apprenticed.” Adrian does not sport the Dark Mark as Voldemort’s recruiting grew sloppier and less traditional as the war dragged on. Although Adrian had originally cursed his luck, the Dark Mark would have spelled the end of his career. As it was, Adrian was able to slip through the Auror background checks and retain his job at the Ministry. His sense of pureblood supremacy remained untainted and he was correct in assuming it was only a matter of time before someone else sought the title of Dark Lord. As the years passed, his aging mother was his only source of former Death Eater news: Rodolphus Lestrange was beginning a new era. Adrian’s induction was smooth and easy. His enthusiasm, daring, loyalty and skill set prompted Lestrange to allow Adrian to push recruitment. Adrian still holds his job at the Ministry as an alibi but yearns for the day when he will receive news to leave his job. He is a fierce and capable killer, both with and against the law. Physically, Adrian is tall (1.88 meters) and well built, an athlete thru and thru. He sports dark, carefully trimmed hair, blue eyes and strikingly bright white teeth. Like a typical ex-Slytherin quidditch player, he dresses both to impress and intimidate, generally in robes of dark green, black or brown. He is very concerned with his physical appearance although not quite superficial, and his job as a Hit Wizard has allowed him to maintain his athletic physique. Coming from a lower-upper class background, Adrian is accustomed to living well, but not extravagantly. He always gets what he wants yet does not want for much. He inherited his father’s frugal nature and his mother’s propensity for violence. He wears a look of perpetual annoyance and he does not accept others easily. Astrology: A Slytherin Aries is a bundle of contradictions. In some ways, they have the potential to be the strongest of their House - the intensity, drive, and brilliant visionary dreams of the Aries combined with the innate leadership skills, the charisma, and the profound sense of self (including the eccentric lack of interest in conforming to what other people think) is stuff of which great magical legends are made. However, a Slytherin Aries has much to learn about politics, knowing who is an appropriate object of trust and who is not trustworthy, knowing when to keep one's mouth shut, and knowing when to avoid acting on impulse in order to use a situation to its best advantage. Although they hate to admit it, these Slytherins are easily manipulated by more cynical, shrewd peers in the Serpent's Den. If they can learn to manage their blind spots, they will go far. Slytherin Aries types can be quite cruel, especially if they have enough physical prowess to bully smaller students; those that are not cruel can still be thoughtless and brutally tactless without actually meaning to cause damage. | |||||||||
